Robert T. Blazek's work was featured in the August 2001 issue of American
Artist Magazine, our nation's leading art magazine. His oil painting
titled "Frenchman's Bay, Acadia National Park, Maine" featuring
a dramatic cliff scene overlooking Frenchman's bay was one of the pieces
featured in the article. The magazine was highlighting the 12th National
Exhibition of the American Society of Marine Artists which was held at the
First Riverfront Arts Center and the Delaware Art Museum, both in
Wilmington, Delaware. The exhibition is also highlighted in a beautiful
hardbound book, titled, "Contemporary American Marine Art",
published by the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA). Mr. Blazek is
a full Artist Member of the ASMA, of which there are about 100 artists so
designated in the United States. The American Society of Marine Artists is
a non profit organization whose purpose is to recognize and promote marine
art and maritime history, and to encourage cooperation among artists,
historians, marine enthusiasts and others engaged in activities relating
to marine art and maritime history. The 12th National Exhibition marked
the society's high water mark of success in continuing their mission.
Mr. Blazek's work is respected for it's luminosity, attention to
detail, and above all it's serenity. Robert's focus is on the northeastern
coast of the United States, especially the rugged coast of Maine. He is
represented by the J. Russell Jinishian Gallery in Fairfield, Connecticut,
and the Bijutsu Sekai Gallery in Tokyo, Japan. His paintings of coastal
New England are in many private and corporate collections around the
world, and have been featured in many magazine articles and books. These
include A Gallery of Marine Art by Jerry McClish, published by
Rockport Publishers, and the cover for the River Book published by
the State of Connecticut. His work received "Awards of
Excellence" at the 1992 and 1994 Mystic International Exhibitions at
the Maritime Gallery in Mystic, Connecticut. This annual show is
considered to be the world's largest and most prestigious marine art
exhibition.
