Because Mr. Iams has been an avid sailor in
Chesapeake Bay waters for many years, the bay and its tributaries, boats,
watermen, and the waterfowl that inhabit the area often appear in his
paintings. Work boats associated with the Chesapeake Bay, such as
Skipjacks and ‘Drake Tail’ work boats, are among his favorite subjects. In
addition to illustrated articles in national art magazines and regional
quarterlies, his published work consists of a number of prints of his
paintings, and two books. Bayside Impressions was published in
1983 by Tidewater Publishers, and recently Painting The Eastern Shore
was published in 1999 by Johns Hopkins University Press. His work also
appears in the book Bound For Blue Water by Russell Jinishian.
