Born and raised in Massachusetts, Dale now lives on an 1865 farm in MA, located near the Quabbin Reservoir, with his wife Pat. It is here that Dale became passionate about "STONE". He began building New England fieldstone walls which led to patios, walkways, and landscaping with stone. Most all the stone was harvested from his small 20-acre farm. Handling tons of stone began giving Dale a different perspective as he would have to locate, cut, shape and sometimes polish a stone for a certain application. Beginning with bowls and birdbaths has led to carving and sculpting this seemingly ordinary gray, brown, black, and lichen covered stone into an absolute one of a kind piece of art.

Dale is a self-taught, sculptor/carver, who creates quite accurate representational carvings in stone relief and in-the-round sculpture. All work is created and carved by Dale and is primarily local New England fieldstone off his land (unless otherwise requested). Dale has been told by geologists that the stone he works with is so unique and unusual that it is truly a "geologist's dream". The process involved after "roughing-out" a piece to bring it to a high polish is: starting at 30 grit and continuing with 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 3000, 8500, and in some cases to 10,000 grit. This process brings out colors you would never believe are inside these stones.
Dale Lind’s Unique Stone Sculpting Process

Dale started hunting and fishing at a very young age with his dad who owned a "deer camp" deep in the woods of Maine. He also hunted Vermont several years. Dale additionally spent many years helping run the Cape Cod Tuna Tournament and catching a 797lb giant one year (as a team we did well other years). It is these experiences that inspire the work he creates today.

Dale spent many years in the sporting goods business, representing companies such as Browning, Winchester, Magellan, Bausch & Lomb/Bushnell to name a few, eventually owning the rep group with 12 employees. During this period he spent much of hisleisure time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He received his U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License and chartered bass, blues, and bluefin tuna trips off Cape Cod for many years.
