Jan Palmer
'Below the Falls' |
Jan is a formally trained watercolorist and
was a children's book illustrator for 35 years before returning to her
fine art training. Leaving Raggedy Ann and Thumbelina behind, her subjects
now include portraits, landscapes and sporting subjects, including
fly-fishing. Jan has won 15 awards from juried watercolor shows in CT and
NY, including 4 awards from the National Exhibition of American
Watercolors in Old Forge, NY. She is one of the few females out
there currently contributing to the Sporting Art arena and we are thrilled
she has joined us.
Reminiscent of many of Sporting Arts masters,
Jan has the rare ability of convincingly capturing sportsmen in pursuit of
their game and her watercolors convey a feeling and mood that allows the
viewer to connect with the subject. Working from her studio in the
Adirondacks, she is a member of the American Watercolor Society, Kent Art
Association in CT and the Upper Hudson Valley Watercolor Society. |
