A Full Trip of Fish

oil on canvas, 20" x 30"

SOLD

The Imperator, a Gloucester semi-knockabout, did her share of fishing from the day of her launch in 1912, up through the 1930s. To most people, the Imperator is probably more familiar as the “We’re Here” of the 1937 MGM Film, “Captains Courageous.” In 1943, she left Gloucester to become a freighter out of Haiti. In the painting, a “full trip” is indicated as the vessel is loaded down with her large haul and is returning home to marker with her catch.
